So once again in lockdown I am doing a bit of housework on my photo archives - on my phone as well as on my external drives. To make this time consuming and somewhat boring task more interesting I am looking at some old photos not just for the memories.
Looking at old photos can help you see how far you have progressed (or even, in the case of smartphones especially, how far the tech has progressed!). Only comparing yourself with yourself is so much more helpful!
There is 6 years between these two shots as well as an upgrade of the camera.
What I was aiming for on both occasions was the shot I got the second time. 6 years previously I lacked the knowledge of the settings and techniques that would achieve what I wanted. It's one of the things I love about photography - there's always something to learn.
But don't delete old photos because they don't meet your current standards - they are still memories! And, make sure you've got them backed up!
